Inspired by billowing flags, this sculpture is the product of a drawing of a single line. Confidently executed, the line was developed through a process of learning to draw lines with fluidity and dexterity so that they become natural and instinctive. Indeed, the idea is that the line reveals something about its maker, in the way that handwriting can be revealing. The strongest of these lines was selected as the final version, digitised and cut in steel. Its repeated nature gives it rhythm, changing as the viewer approaches and passes.
